One of the places where Bartomeu's sexual abuse took place. Bartomeu (38) was sexually abused at the age of ten by a man who played football with him and his friends after school. He never spoke about it until telling his wife 28 years later. The last available study, conducted in 1994, indicated that 23 percent of girls and 15 percent of boys under the age of 17 in Spain had been sexually abused. Most abused children will never speak of their experience. As an adult survivor, Bartomeu believes that disclosing his personal story will contribute to the prevention of future child sex abuse.
