Lance Armstrong glances back at fellow rider Marco Pantani at the summit of Mont Ventoux, during the Tour de France cycle race. Mont Ventoux rises 1,619m in 21km, and is known as one of the most grueling parts of the Tour. Later it was suggested that Armstrong had allowed the Italian, who fans hail as the strongest climber in the world, to win this stage of the contest. Armstrong went on to become the overall winner.
