A car crashes through a crowd watching a royal parade in the Dutch town of Apeldoorn, on Queen's Day, the official celebration of the monarch's birthday on 30 April. The car then crashed into a monument, just meters from an open-topped bus carrying Queen Beatrix and members of her family. Eight people, including the driver of the car, died as a result of injuries sustained during the incident, and ten others were hurt. The royal family was unharmed.
