Scientist at work. Using a combination of a hot air dirigible and an inflatable raft, scientists can study various life forms in the roof of the rain forest at close range. After the raft is lowered into position over the Amazon, researchers follow. Several international teams took part in the research, which encompassed insects, birds, tree frogs and vegetation. Captured specimens were carefully preserved.
