This book brings you the best of the 59,320 photographs by 3,778 photographers from 141 countries entered in the 2025 Contest. Inside you’ll find images of struggle and defiance, but also of human warmth and courage – visually stunning work that draws you deeper into stories behind the news.
In 2025, World Press Photo marks its 70th anniversary—a moment to reflect on a powerful legacy that began in 1955 with a group of Dutch photographers that has grown into a global platform for visual storytelling that informs, moves, and inspires. This milestone year invites us not only to celebrate the iconic images that have shaped public understanding but also to examine the responsibilities and challenges of representation. Through a special edition yearbook, we look back at the stories that have defined our past—and forward to the questions they raise for the future.
The publication has been designed by photobook designer Sybren Kuiper. In addition to the winning works, the book also contains essays for in-depth context and reflection.
The Yearbook 2025 is available to pre-order in six languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
