In 2018, as an intern at Beijing-based media group Caixin Media, she contributed to the report on the Carbon Nine Leakage in Quangang, Fujian, China. Her subsequent documentary about two families affected by the disaster was nominated at The Third West Lake Youth Documentary Forum.
As a fellow of the Global Reporting Program from 2018 to 2019, Wei was part of the production team of the documentary film 'The Fish You (Don't Know You) Eat", awarded first place in the Multimedia Production category of the 2020 Canada Emerge Media Awards and nominated for the Online News Award.
Wei joined Caixin Media as a video journalist after graduating from the School of Journalism and Communication at Nanjing University in June 2019.
