The World Press Photo Foundation releases a technical report reviewing a range of issues related to the 2016 Photo Contest

Lars Boering, managing director of the World Press Photo Foundation, said:

"This technical report is an innovation for our organization. In the past, although data about the photo contest was collected and considered internally, little was released publicly.

As part of our commitment to be more transparent about our activities, we are making public data on the contest related to issues of diversity, representation, and verification.

This report is intended to start a conversation within our community of professional visual journalism. We are organizing debates and discussions on some of these topics at our Awards Days in April, and this will be another step in our on-going commitment to engaging with our community."
