Christopher Gregory, Puerto Rico

Emotional Geography

Emotional Geography explores the mechanics of memory, and how a physical space is remembered across generations. For this project, Gregory-Rivera used images taken by his grandfather when he first visited Puerto Rico, and then used his own camera to decode them and the place he grew up in. The result is a project that according to him questions “the role of images in imagining a country that, transformed by time, perhaps never existed.”
