Philip Montgomery

Philip Montgomery is a native Californian living in New York City for the past decade. His work examines the social issues of our time, utilizing observational strategies of documentary and aesthetic approaches of fine art photography.
He has received awards from Pictures of the Year International, American Photography, the National Press Photographers Association, and Photo District News. In 2016, he was named Documentary Photographer of the Year by the LEAD Awards, one of Germany’s highest visual accolades.
In 2018, he received an ASME National Magazine Award for his work chronicling the opioid epidemic in the United States. Philip is a graduate of the International Center of Photography and is a regular contributor to The New Yorker, Bloomberg Businessweek, and The New York Times Magazine.
