Shirley Abraham and Amit Madheshiya are Cannes prize-winning Indian documentary filmmakers.

The Cinema Travellers is their debut documentary. It premiered as an Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival 2016. It has since been screened at a hundred and twenty five film festivals worldwide and won nineteen awards, including the President’s Medal in India. Shirley Abraham and Amit Madheshiya’s film Searching for Saraswati is India’s first Op-Doc for The New York Times. Their recent film, Once Upon a Lynching, is supported by Field of Vision, The Guardian and the Pulitzer Center.

Shirley and Amit’s work is supported by the Sundance Institute, MacArthur Foundation, IDFA Bertha Fund, Bertha Foundation, Arts Council of England, Filmmaker Fund and Catapult Film Fund. They have been fellows of Sundance Labs, Cluster of Excellence Heidelberg, India Foundation for the Arts and Goethe-Institut.

Amit Madheshiya has received a World Press Photo Award in 2011 and a World Photography Award in 2009, and 2011.
