Darren Emerson is a director, writer and producer of VR experiences and documentaries. He is the co-founder of London production company East City Films.
In 2015 he created his first VR documentary Witness 360:7/7, and in 2016 won the first ever Sheffield DocFest VR commission with his documentary Indefinite. In 2018, Emerson was commissioned to create the room scale documentary Common Ground (Creative XR, Arts Council England, StoryFutures Academy), which had its world
premiere at Tribeca Film Festival 2019. Common Ground won the award for Best Immersive Storytelling at Sandbox Immersive Festival in China, and the Grand Prix Innovation at Festival du Nouveau Cinema.
In 2019 Darren Executive Produced The Waiting Room VR (UWE, University of Bath, ESPRC) which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2019, and won Best Digital Storytelling at IDFA 2019.
Darren is an advocate of VR storytelling, a regular contributor to think tanks and workshops, and has been invited to speak at VR Labs and conferences around the world.
