Henrik Kastenskov

Henrik Kastenskov had his first experience with “Flash journalism” back in 2004 while interning at JyllandsPosten in Denmark. 
 
After a stint as staff photographer, Kastenskov co-founded the web documentary collective Bombay Flying Club in 2008, which focuses on experimenting with the visual and narrative language of the web. In doing so, he has produced his own projects and stories from Afghanistan, Kosovo, South Sudan, The Maldives, Northern Ireland and the greater part of Latin America. The projects focus on the impact of conflict and climate on the civic population.
 
He has been awarded several times in the Danish POY, POYi and Best of Photojournalism, both as photographer and producer. Today, Kastenskov’s focus remains on the development of an engaging narrative language, while teaching workshops and masterclasses in the art of web documentary all over the world. Currently Kastenskov is working on a long term project as an embed with the Danish Defense.
 
Kastenskov holds a BA in photojournalism from the Danish School of Media and Journalism – a school where he’s been teaching web documentary for the past ten years - as well as a master in commercial photography from Media College Denmark.
 
Kastenskov served as a member of the 2016 World Press Photo Multimedia Contest jury and again in 2019 as Secretary to the jury. Besides that he has had seats in the Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Lithuanian POY contests.
