Lissette Lemus is a Salvadoran documentary photojournalist. Her work centers on gang-related violence and the decades-long migration crisis in El Salvador. She also covers migration, religion, human rights, and natural disasters. Recently, her focus has been on the impact of the government’s "state of exception" under which Salvadorans live.
Lissette has been the recipient of a grant from the International Women Media Foundation (IWMF), an initiative focused on gender violence and LGBTQ+ communities in Central America, and Connectas, an investigative journalism platform.
In 2023, she participated in the second edition of DW Akademie’s “Cambia la Historia” (Change History) project.
Lemus holds a Master's Degree in Violence Prevention Public Policy at Universidad Don Bosco in El Salvador.
