Sheng-Wen Lo
Sheng-Wen Lo's works investigate the relationships between non-humans and contemporary society, often taking daily experiences as points of departure. He makes use of still/moving images, installations, video games, escape rooms and various media. He is the creative director of Lightbox, a public photo library and a center for contemporary photography in Taipei, Taiwan.
During his residency in Europe, he facilitates connections between the Taiwanese and international contemporary photography scenes through talks, discussions, writings, and collaborations. Sheng is an artist in residence at the Rijksakademie (2019-2021) in Amsterdam, and has been working with National Geographic and the Embassy of the North Sea.
His recent works are shown at the Foam Fotografiemuseum, EYE Filmmuseum, and Art Rotterdam in the Netherlands, ICP Museum in New York, MMCA in South Korea, FORMAT Photo Festival, Belfast Photo Festival in the UK, UCCA in Beijing, LianZhou Foto in China, National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Australia, and Taiwan Biennial at NTMoFA in Taiwan.
Sheng-Wen Lo is a winner of Foam Talent (2021), and a fellowship/stipend recipient of De Nederlandsche Bank, Prince Claus Fund (2019), and Mondriaan Fond (2018).
