Oliver Weiken began his career in 1996 while still a student, with the local newspaper ‘Warsteiner Anzeiger’ and then with Bongarts Sportfotografie shortly after.
In 2003, he joined the German Press Agency, Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), as a junior photographer before moving to the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) for whom he worked with for 11 years from bases in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
In 2017, Weiken returned to DPA to build their English photo wire and serve as Chief Photographer for the Middle East and North Africa, from their Cairo office.
