The World Press Photo Festival 2019 will take place on 12-13 April at Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek. The festival will showcase different perspectives on the stories that matter through a varied program of presentations, screenings, and meet-ups.
In this edition, the festival features special guests including experts from the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), MFON: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora, National Geographic, and The New York Times; the 2019 World Press Photo Contests nominees; the FotoEvidence Book Award with World Press Photo winner and finalist; and the renowned Sem Presser Lecture, supported by DuPho given by Aida Muluneh.
Panel discussions will include, among other topics, debates on solutions journalism, conservation storytelling, the role of social justice in photography, the politics of representation, modern ways of storytelling, how to tell underrepresented stories, and investigative journalism.
The World Press Photo Festival 2019 will also see the third edition of the Women’s Meet-Up, an informal get together for women in the photojournalism industry, providing a safe space to exchange thoughts and experiences, and to draw paths towards a more diverse and inclusive photojournalism community.

The flagship World Press Photo Exhibition 2019, displaying 2019 World Press Photo Contest winners, premieres at De Nieuwe Kerk during the festival, giving festival ticket holders the chance to discover the exhibition.
