- The exhibition will open daily from 1 June - 29 November 2020, from 10.00 - 18.00.
- Protective measures include the adjustment of the exhibition route to maintain 1.5m distance between visitors and automatic sanitizer stations among others.
- Tickets are limited to 100 people per hour and can be purchased online only.
Every year, the annual World Press Photo Exhibition premieres at De Nieuwe Kerk before starting its worldwide tour to over 120 cities in 50 countries around the world. Due to open on 17 April, the global situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus meant that some locations of the exhibition worldwide tour had to be cancelled or postponed to later in the year.

As governments in some countries start to ease measures and allow public spaces to reopen with certain rules, other locations of our World Press Photo Exhibition 2020 tour will be able to open in June.

Protective COVID-19 measures at De Nieuwe Kerk
Special measures have been put in place to ensure a safe visit to the exhibition, including:
- Adjustment of the exhibition route to maintain 1.5 m distance between visitors.
- Tickets available online only and limited to a specific date and time.
- Households of 2–5 persons are allowed to visit the exhibition together.
- Automatic sanitizer stations.
- Special sound projectors at the Digital Storytelling Contest exhibition area to replace headphones.
- Audio-tour app available online for download in your own mobile device. Audio devices are available following a special cleansing protocol.
- Cards only at the Museum shop

World Press Photo Exhibition 2020
Presenting the results of the foundation’s annual contests, the annual World Press Photo Exhibition showcases the best visual journalism of the last year. The flagship exhibition is specially designed for the space of De Nieuwe Kerk, a 15th-century church in the centre of Amsterdam.
The stories in this year's exhibition invite the audience to stop, feel, think and act, ranging from protest stories around the world, such as the World Press Photo of the Year
Straight Voice by Yasuyoshi Chiba and
Hong Kong Unrest by Nicolas Asfouri; to those that highlight the impact of climate change in ecosystems and society, such as Katie Orlinsky’s
The Carbon Threat and the World Press Photo Online Video of the Year

Yearbook 2020
The World Press Photo Yearbook 2020 showcases winning photography from the 2020 Photo Contest, selected by an independent jury from 73,996 photographs entered by 4,282 photographers from 125 countries. The book will be on sale at De Nieuwe Kerk’s museum shop in English and Dutch. Learn more about the yearbook

Register for the press conference at De Nieuwe Kerk
De Nieuwe Kerk and World Press Photo will hold a press conference on Monday 25 May at 14.00 to present the World Press Photo Exhibition 2020. Cathelijne Broers, director of De Nieuwe Kerk, Lars Boering, managing director of the World Press Photo Foundation, will participate in the event.
