Max Alpert

The Soviet photojournalist Max Alpert (1899-1980) started his career at the Rabochaya Gazeta. In the 1930s, he worked as a photo editor for the newspaper Pravda and other publications. During the Second World War, Alpert worked for the TASS agency and for the Soviet Information Bureau. His war photos were widely used for Soviet propaganda purposes both at home and abroad. After the war, he joined RIA Novosti agency, where he stayed for many years.
