Manyatsa Monyamane is a Johannesburg-based artist and visual storyteller. Her work unpacks unpopular themes, putting a spotlight on stories often overlooked by mainstream media.

Born in Mamelodi, South Africa, she completed her Btech in Photography in 2016.

She was a finalist at Pop Cap 2016 and, in 2017, a Multi & New Media Merit Award Winner and Lizamore & Associates Mentorship Programme Solo Exhibition Winner - all for the Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards. Manyatsa Monyamane was also a top 10 finalist and Merit Award Winner of the Absa L’Atelier Art Competition.

In 2018, she was announced as a finalist for the International Women Photographers Award, with a travelling exhibition in Dubai, New Delhi, Tokyo and Paris.

Manyatsa Monyamane’s work is included in the group exhibition, ‘Where I seek I find Myself’, at Mocada Museum in Brooklyn, New York and was in residency with the Ampersand Foundation in New York in January 2018.
