Li Yang was born in China in 1980, and - under the influence of a father who loved photography - decided as a child that she wanted to be a photojournalist. After graduating with an English major, she worked as a photographer with the East Asia Economic and Trade News, covering everything from spot news and entertainment, to general news and special features, and winning a provincial news award. Since November 2011, Li has worked as a photojournalist for a real-estate newspaper.
