Jim Argo began his photojournalism career while a student at Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, Texas. He worked for two Texas newspapers before moving to Oklahoma City and the largest state newspaper, The Daily Oklahoman, and its sister publication, the Oklahoma City Times, in 1963. His freelance assignments have included major news magazines, such as Business Week, Newsweek, Time, National Geographic as well as several smaller publications. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of fame in 1997. Argo retired as The Oklahoman photo editor in 2003.
