Hossein Fatemi (b. 1980) is an Iranian photojournalist and storyteller whose work concentrates on capturing political, social and cultural issues, particularly those relating to identity, human rights, inequality, and resilience in the face of oppression.
Fatemi began his journey as a photojournalist when he was 17 years old, covering politics and social events in Iran. Over the years, he has covered conflicts, wars, and human stories in countries such as Lebanon, Georgia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq, India, Somalia, Kenya, and Bangladesh.
Fatemi has received numerous awards, including the Picture of the Year International in 2016 and 2014 in two categories. He has been a member of Panos Pictures since 2010, and his works have been exhibited worldwide. He has also been recognized with numerous awards at events such as the China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP) and the DAYS Japan International Photojournalism Awards.
He is the founder and director of the Middle East Images Agency and Foundation, focused on providing educational opportunities for aspiring journalists as a means of fostering and cultivating the visual storytelling fields of photography and independent journalism.
