Gisela Volá lives in Argentina and works at the intersections of visual creation, education, and collective work.
In 2004, she co-founded Cooperativa Sub, a project that has been operating for fifteen years in Buenos Aires and that delves into the creation of a collective identity and the carrying out of photographic investigations within the Latin American territory.
In 2014, Volá co-founded Sub Educational Platform, a collaborative education program for the development of visual narratives with people from various countries of the continent. She is currently a member of the Vist project, a platform that promotes and disseminates visual narratives in Latin America. She has served as director of the ECO/22 festival.
Gisela Volá has been a mentor in the Women's Photography Mentoring Program. She received the POYILATAM Picture of the Year Latam Award 2019/2012 in portraiture and the first prize at the Cuenca, Biennial in 2009. Volá has participated in exhibitions in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Mexico, Paraguay, Spain, USA and France, and was as a teacher at CDF, Montevideo photography center, Master of Efti, Madrid, Spain.
