Frank P. Hoy (1935-2001) started his photographic career in 1956 at The Washington Post, where he worked as a staff photographer for 17 years. After teaching photojournalism at Syracuse University for five years, Hoy came to Arizona State University in 1978, where he developed the Visual Journalism curriculum for the Walter Cronkite School of Photojournalism. Among many other things, he developed Documentary Photo Workshops, designed to teach underprivileged children, and converted the university's black and white photo laboratory into a digital facility. Frank Hoy retired in 1999 and died two years later.
