Evelyn Hockstein is a photojournalist based in Washington, DC.

She is President of WPOW, the Women Photojournalists of Washington and has worked in more than 70 countries covering civil war, political unrest, humanitarian crises, and natural disasters for The Washington Post, The New York Times, Helsingin Sanomat, and others.

Hockstein’s major coverage in the United States includes the neo Nazi demonstrations in Charlottesville, Black Lives Matter protests in Washington, DC, the 2020 Presidential campaign, Reproductive Rights for Women, and the 2021 storming of the Capitol.

She has won two Pictures of the Year International awards, including First Prize for her General News coverage of 2020, the NPPA Best of Photojournalism for International News, and been nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes.
