In 2006 Eastwood received the Légion d'Honneur from France's President Chirac, and the first ever humanitarian award from the Motion Pictures Association of America, which cited his decades of decency and goodness of spirit in moviemaking. He also released two of the most acclaimed films of his career, Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima.
