Antanas Alishauskas was born in 1936 in a Lithuanian village in what was then the Soviet Union. Two years after winning in 1964 the first prize in the Fotozagadka (photo) contest, organized by Shvituris Magazine, he joined the magazine as a staff photographer. In 1972, he was invited to become a staff photographer for the magazine Taribine Moterius in Vilnius, where he stayed for nearly thirty years. In 2005, Alishauskas became a freelance photgrapher.
