Alyssa Schukar is an editorial photographer in Chicago specializing in documentary work, portraiture and brand journalism. She has been a photojournalist for 10 years, five of which were spent at a newspaper in the Midwest.
Schukar loves to share stories of people and communities. Her favorite pictures are those that give insight into the life of an individual or family because she understands the world better through the experiences of the people she meets. She finds it humbling to be allowed such intimate access, and so in every assignment Schukar tries to approach people with respect and empathy.
Her work has appeared in national and international magazines and newspapers, and she has worked professionally throughout Central and South America, Afghanistan, India, Scotland, Ireland and France.
