Shiho Fukada

Shiho Fukada is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and photographer, splitting her time between Los Angeles and Tokyo. She began her career as a news photographer in New York and now focuses on underreported stories, working in both video and photography.

She has been recognized for her work, receiving the Overseas Press Club of America's Feature Photography Award for her reporting on Japanese female seniors in incarceration, the Visa d'Or Daily Press Award at Perpignan, and the Society of Publishers in Asia award for her coverage of Japan's post-tsunami aftermath. Her documentary on life in an internet cafĂ© in Tokyo earned her the World Press Photo Multimedia Award. She has been awarded the Alicia Patterson Fellowship, the Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists from the International Women’s Media Foundation, and grants from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.

Her documentary shorts have been featured in various film festivals and recognized by both the Webby and Telly Awards. She served as the cinematographer for “Stormy”, a documentary film about Stormy Daniels, and directed and shot episodes for the BBC/Hulu series “Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne”.
