Our exhibitions program

We showcase stories that make people stop, feel, think and act

Global activities since 1955

On 3 December 1955, the first annual exhibition ‘World Press Photo 55’ opened its doors. Believing in the power of showing and the importance of seeing high-quality visual stories, we have since organized nearly 3000 exhibitions, and over 130 education and outreach events, in 522 cities in 122 countries.

Presenting the results of the foundation’s annual contests, the annual World Press Photo Exhibition showcases the best visual journalism of the last year. The exhibition premieres each year in Amsterdam in April, before beginning its worldwide tour to 100 cities and 45 countries. We work with local and international exhibition partners to reach a global audience of over four million people. Get in touch to find out more.

We offer specially curated exhibitions and projects, working with themes in our archive or the diverse accounts of the world spotlighted in our Develop programs

See the Story is a free learning resource that gives you information on how you come to see photos and digital stories - including how the stories of the 2020 Photo Contest and 2020 Digital Storytelling Contest were chosen, how they are made, and how they raise questions about important issues. Download the publication.
