Alexandre Vieiera started his professional life as a trainee with Jornal o Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro in 1994. Later he worked for Jornal O Dia, from 1995 until 2000, then began to work freelance. In 2005, he returned to Jornal O Dia, and has remained there ever since. Vieira was a finalist for the Premio Embratel de Fotojornalismo, runner-up for the Rio Grande Do Sul Human Rights Prize in Brazil, and is a winner of the Premio Esso de Fotojornalismo.
